After the General Assembly of the movement last February, Margaret Karram, the new president, appointed new managers for dialogue with people of non-religious beliefs. Thus, Andrew and Vida responsible until before were replaced by Ferdinando Garetto and M. Àngels Capellas.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks here, on behalf of everyone, Life ed Andrew: for their donation and commitment, and for having made available to everyone the richness of experiences lived with peoples, cultures and generations in different parts of the world. We are sure that the relationships built over these years will continue even where they find themselves working concretely for dialogue. We feel we can count on their affection and the strength of friendship always built on sincerity.

I live in Barcelona, I am married to Jordi and we have two children aged 27 and 25. Since last March, after the Assembly of the Focolare Movement, they have entrusted me with the task of following our dialogue around the world.

It was a surprise and at the same time, however, I saw the possibility of putting myself at the service of this dialogue between people with or without religious reference. A dialogue that is very close to my heart, especially since I met Jordi, who is agnostic. For many years we have both been trying to animate this dialogue, not only in our city, but throughout Spain.

Then, through participation in the various meetings of the Movement which take place in the communities, in the Mariapolis or in international congresses, we have tried to highlight this reality of the Movement, which helps us to open our gaze, our heart, making it possible to welcome everyone (believers and non-believers) into this family whose horizon is that of brotherhood.

These first months, together with Ferdinando, we began to deal with everything relating to our dialogue.

Of course it's not easy, because we all work in our own city, but we are helped by a team we can really count on.

However, in these years there will be the opportunity for all of us to get to know each other better.

Ferdinando Garetto

I was born and live in Turin, in the north of Italy. Married to Mary in 1994, and we have 4 children aged 26, 24, 22 and 20. I have been working as a palliative care doctor for almost 30 years.

I met the Focolare Movement in 1981 and have been involved in the Turin dialogue group for several years. For me too, the proposal to follow the center of our dialogue was a surprise and I am well aware of the difficulty of reconciling a task of this kind with a job that involves me globally for many hours of the day. The decision to accept arose above all from the certainty that the personal relationships built over these years will be far more important than my limits of time and knowledge of such a complex and articulated reality. We therefore count on mutual trust and understanding.
