In 2022 I was involved in several Dialogue activities. At the beginning of the year, I was asked to participate in a debate with a local Anglican bishop on the topic “The Meaning of Life”.
The debate saw the participation of an audience of different faiths. In my speech, I made it clear that I did not expect to “change their minds” about their beliefs, but rather hoped that this would give everyone a better understanding of an alternative point of view from two different perspectives. The evening went well and we hope it can be repeated.
I had the opportunity to put my name forward for the Interreligious Network's “BUDDY SCHEME” during Interreligious Week. I had already participated two years before, pairing up with a Muslim gentleman and the experience was very positive.
This time I was paired with a Baha'i gentleman who lives nearby. We had an opportunity to meet to discuss our different beliefs and hope to create more opportunities in the coming weeks. I think this project is a great way to learn about different beliefs, from a personal perspective.
