The appeal for the integral ecological conversion of the Focolare Movement Italy and the Giorgio La Pira Foundation, in Florence on 8 November
l Focolare Movement Italy and the Giorgio La Pira Foundation promote a dialogue meeting in Florence between people of different beliefs on the crucial topic of economic reconversion and peace. In a sort of way Fraternity caravan, which will hopefully begin with this appointment, will propose to start with a sensitive topic, the relationship between work and peace. The event is titled: They will beat swords into plowshares.
The meeting aims to concretely address the issue of disarmament of the economy and of integral ecological conversion, promoting a model of sustainable and fraternal development.
The event, inspired by the biblical and also very secular principle of transforming the instruments of war into instruments of work and prosperity, will be held inSaturday 8 November, from 2.30pm to 6.30pm in the Nuovo Pignone Auditorium, Florence Learning Center via de Perfetti Ricasoli 78, in Florence.
We will begin with the introductory reflections of Michele Stangarone (formerly President Nuovo Pignone), Sara Funaro (Mayor of Florence), Patrizia Giunti (President of the Giorgio La Pira Foundation) and greetings from Bernardo Marasco general secretary of the CGIL in Florence.
The central theme will be held by Luigino Bruni, full professor of Political Economy at the Lumsa University of Rome, who will try to elucidate the principles of economics and work in relation to the constant search for peace, both social and political and military.
Two other reports will follow, on the theme of integral ecological conversion and induced industrial reconversion, held by Carlo Cefaloni, journalist from New Town, and the Cinzia Guaita, spokesperson RWM conversion and co-president of Warfree.
The meeting aims to concretely address the issue of disarmament of the economy and of integral ecological conversion, promoting a model of sustainable and fraternal development.
The program includes a moment dedicated to Luciana's dream, with the interview by Tamara Pastorelli a Morena Rosadoni, Emanuela Fonti e Armida Moser on the testimony of Luciana Scalacci pioneer in dialogue between believers and non-believers.
The day will be moderated by Michele Zanzucchi, journalist and writer, communication teacher at the Sophia University Institute.
The initiative, part of the Fraternity Caravan, intends to underline the need for a dialogue constructive and synergistic between institutions, trade unions, the productive world, academia and civil society, to translate the ideals of peace into real economic practices and social justice.
