There are books, writings, poems and issues in which we can all find ourselves. They touch the most intimate strings of the soul and express the deepest and most intense human feelings: doubt, pain, anger, anguish, desperation, hope, praise, thanksgiving, joy. That is why they can be pronounced by every man and woman of all times, cultures and in every moment of life.
When we make love our 'only good', we can experience that in this love our past, our present, our future are gathered and we find the strength to confidently face the suffering that we find on our path and, beyond the shadows of life, the serenity to raise our gaze to hope.
How then to live this month's IDEA?
Here is C.D.'s experience: «Some time ago I started feeling unwell, so I underwent a series of medical visits which required long waiting times. Finally, when I found out what my illness was, Parkinson's disease.... it was a shock! I was 58 years old, how was it possible? I asked myself: “Why?” I am a Physical Education and Sports Science teacher, physical activity is part of me! I felt like I was missing something too important." Remembering the choice she made as a young woman, to make love her only good, helped her.
C.D. continues: “Thanks to the drugs I immediately started to feel much better, but I don't know exactly what will happen to me. I decided to live in the present moment. After the diagnosis, it came naturally to me to write a song, sing (...) my YES: the soul is filled with peace!”.
Regarding the "only good", Chiara Lubich wrote that these simple words help us to trust in the love that can do everything, to live with love and, full of this love, to be ever more united and to discover our true being more and more and better.
Let us unite, then, in this month of June, to say before every action: love is our 'only good' and thus radiate peace and serenity around us.
