Chiara Lubich told us that there is a golden thread, or rather, a divine embroidery that binds our entire life, a love that requires a response, concrete facts. It is our duty to be, our true being, our full realization. We therefore repeat explicitly in the face of every cheerful or indifferent event: "yes". We will discover that this simple expression will be a powerful push, a launching pad, in order to do with love, with perfection, with total dedication, what we must do. We will thus compose moment after moment the wonderful, unique and unrepeatable mosaic of our life; beautiful, large, immense things, in which even the smallest part, like a perhaps unnoticed act of love, makes sense and shines, in the same way that tiny and variegated flowers have their reason in the infinite beauty of nature.
This IDEA helps us to open our interiority to the fraternal dimension through concrete gestures. It pushes us to "go out" from ourselves to bring reconciliation and hope to others.
A group of young people from Heidelberg (Germany) offers us this testimony: "How can we ensure that our friends can experience that the key to happiness is found when we give ourselves to others? From here we start to launch our new action called 'An hour of happiness'. The idea is very simple: it's about making another person happy, at least for one hour a month. We started with those who seemed to us to be most in need of love, we offered our availability and we saw that the doors opened. In a square to which we had accompanied some elderly people in chairs on wheels, or going to a hospital to play with hospitalized children, or practicing a bit of sport with disabled people. They were happy, but we were even happier. And our friends who were invited to go with us were curious, but now that they have tried to make others happy, they are agree with us: happinessat and dat and at the same time you experience it."
